How are team points calculated?
The tournament points system is designed to rank teams based on their performance across various tournaments. Points are awarded based on three key factors:
1. Tournament Tier (determined by prize pool)
2. Team's Placement
3. Tournament's Age
Tournament Tiers and Prize Pools
Tournaments are classified into tiers based on their prize pool, as higher prize pools typically result in more competitive gameplay and serious participation from teams:
Points Distribution
Points are awarded based on a team's final rank in the tournament according to the following table:
Time Decay System
To ensure rankings reflect current performance, points earned from tournaments decrease over time:
Tournament Age | Points Awarded |
Example Calculation
Here's an example of how points are calculated:
1. Team Alpha wins a Tier A tournament (₹25 Lac prize pool) 20 days ago:
- Base points for 1st place in Tier A: 100 points
- Tournament within 30 days: 100% points retained
- Final points: 100 × 100% = 100 points
2. Same team places 3rd in a Tier B tournament (₹12 Lac prize pool) 100 days ago:
- Base points for 3rd place in Tier B: 64 points
- Tournament between 91-180 days: 60% points retained
- Final points: 64 × 60% = 38.4 points
Total points for Team Alpha: 100 + 38.4 = 138.4 points (rounded to 138)
Important Notes
- Points are only counted from tournaments in the last two years
- Tournament tier is strictly based on prize pool amount (except for official tournaments)
- Points are automatically recalculated to account for time decay
- All prize pool amounts are in Indian Rupees (₹)
This ranking system ensures that:
- Performance in higher prize pool tournaments carries more weight
- Recent achievements are valued more than past ones
- Teams are rewarded for consistent performance
- Rankings reflect both current form and historical achievements
